Metropolitan Society for the Blind annual church service

On Saturday 27th September I had the pleasure of attending the Metropolitain society for the blind’s annual church service which was held this year at St. Peter’s church off Walworth Road in Southwark.

It was a wonderful service attended by visually impaired users of he organisation, their helpers, Mayors from inner London boroughs and councillors. In particular I enjoyed a sermon by Reverend Robert Hufton for the Methodist Church on Clapham High Street.

Hymns included: All creatures of our God and King; Servant Song; Love divine all loves excelling

Readings included: The first letter of John 4:7-12 by a Metropolitan Society for the blind home visitor John Loughran; The Gospel according to St Luke 10:25-37 read by Ann Grindrod from SeeAbility.

Afterwards we moved to the crypt of the church for tea and sandwiches and I met members of the congregation from Lambeth.
