The Friendly Almshouses Christmas Serendipity

On Thursday 13 Novemeber I attended the Friendly Almhouses Christmas Serendipity, held at the friendly Almshouses in Brixton.

The Friendly Almshouses, originally established in 1802 as the Female Friendly Society is a Registered Charity,  and a member of the Almshouse Association.

The social event is for residents and friends with items for Christmas on sale including cards, decorations and presents together with home-made cakes and preserves.

I had a lovely time meeting volunteer members of the management committee, staff and residents. I enjoyed pulling and calling out the raffle winners. All proceeds from the event will be used for the benefit of this small 200 year old Brixton charity which provides sheltered accommodation for women over 50 years of age of modest means.
