Visitors from Clapham Youth Centre in the council chamber
I have chosen Clapham Youth Centre as one of the Mayors charities this year, along with Lambeth Women’s Aid and Trinity Hospice.
The visit was by children from the Junior project which is run by volunteers and provides art, fun and games for children from 6-11 each Monday evening.
The children were extremely excited to get a look inside the town hall and along with seeing the Mayors parlour we showed then the main chamber and then had something to eat in the anti-chamber.
The children had lots of questions and really took an interest in the history of the council building – including looking at the names on the role of honour for past Mayor, pointing out the Mayor for the year they were born.
